There is something so special about photographing families during the fall and Christmas season. The cooler weather, cozy outfits, beautiful seasonal backdrops, and excitement leading into the holidays make this one of my favorite times of year.

Each year, Anna Carreno Photography offers a collection of fall and Christmas mini sessions for families throughout Magnolia, Spring, The Woodlands, and surrounding areas of North Houston.

Christmas minis are one of the most anticipated events at Anna Carreno Photography each year, and for 2026, there are several completely different Christmas experiences to choose from.

Rather than offering one Christmas backdrop, I love giving families options. Some sessions feature beautiful greenery and classic Christmas details, while others are lighter, more neutral, cozy, or whimsical.

Several of this year’s Christmas mini sessions will take place at The Oak Atelier in Conroe, Texas, a sought-after photography studio known for its breathtaking, custom-designed Christmas sets. Each space is thoughtfully styled with incredible attention to detail, creating a truly magical backdrop for timeless family Christmas portraits. I am happy to announce that as one of their Featured Artistes, I have several mini session options at each their stunning Christmas sets.

And yes — there will even be a little Christmas magic along the way, including sessions featuring snow!

I always recommend choosing the session you are naturally drawn to first. From there, you can plan outfits that complement the setting.

One of the most common questions I receive is, “What should we wear?”

For family photos, coordinating usually photographs better than everyone wearing the exact same thing. Think about creating a cohesive color palette using a few complementary shades and mixing textures rather than matching every outfit.

For fall sessions, warm neutrals, creams, browns, muted greens, denim, and earthy tones photograph beautifully.

Booking early also gives you plenty of time to plan outfits, order Christmas cards, and have your photographs ready before the busiest part of the holiday season arrives.
