There is something incredibly special about the first hours after welcoming your baby into the world—the tiny hospital bracelet, sleepy stretches, wrinkled little toes, and the way your newborn fits so perfectly in your arms. These moments pass in a blur, which is why I’m so excited to now offer Fresh 48 newborn photography sessions!

What Is a Fresh 48 Session?

A Fresh 48 session takes place in your hospital room, typically the day after your baby is born. These sessions are designed to document your newborn’s earliest details and your family’s first moments together in a natural, meaningful way.

Unlike a traditional posed newborn session, Fresh 48 photography is relaxed and unposed. There are no props, elaborate setups, or studio lighting. Instead, I focus on preserving the genuine beauty of this brand-new chapter—the first cuddles, tiny yawns, sibling introductions, feeding moments, and the overwhelming love surrounding your newest family member.

What Will We Capture?

Every Fresh 48 session is unique, but some of the details we may document include:

• Your baby’s tiny fingers, toes, and hospital bracelet
• Snuggles with Mom and Dad
• Baby resting in the hospital bassinet
• First meetings with siblings
• Feeding, swaddling, and quiet bonding moments
• Your family together in those unforgettable first days

You do not need to worry about having a perfectly decorated hospital room or coordinating elaborate outfits. Neutral, comfortable clothing works beautifully, and your baby can be photographed in a simple swaddle, hospital blanket, or a special outfit you bring from home.

When Should You Book a Fresh 48 Session?

Because babies rarely arrive exactly when expected, Fresh 48 sessions are reserved based on your estimated due date. Once your baby is born, you—or a family member—will contact me so we can coordinate a time for me to visit the hospital, usually the following day.

Booking during your second or third trimester is recommended so I can reserve availability around your due date.

Fresh 48 and Newborn Studio Sessions

A Fresh 48 session can be booked on its own or in addition to a traditional newborn photography session at my Magnolia studio. The two sessions preserve completely different parts of your baby’s story.

Your Fresh 48 gallery documents those emotional first hours in the hospital, while your newborn studio session captures beautifully styled and posed portraits during the first few weeks after birth. Together, they create a timeless collection of your baby’s earliest days.
