When Should You Book Your Newborn Photographer?

One of the most common questions I receive from expecting parents is:

“When should we book our newborn session?”

The short answer?

The earlier, the better.

At Anna Carreno Photography, most families reserve their newborn session during the start of the second trimester to ensure availability around their due date. Because newborn sessions are scheduled based on baby’s arrival rather than a fixed calendar date, booking early allows flexibility once your little one arrives. If you are already in your third trimester or if your baby is already here, please don't hesitate to reach out as I may have last minute availability to fit you in.

The Best Age for Newborn Photos

Newborn sessions are ideally photographed within the first 5–21 days after birth while babies are still naturally sleepy and curled for posing. During this stage, babies tend to settle more comfortably into wrapped poses and classic newborn setups.

However, every baby is different, and beautiful newborn portraits can still be captured outside of that timeframe as well.
